July, August, and September from the "Calendario Agricola" arch in Guadalajara, Mexico
This week we pause our forward progress to review the student work and then to assess how we can improve. Here are the notes for the week.
MONDAY is LABOR DAY ~ The school is closed. No class meetings or tutor times today. Students may begin work for the week.
REVIEW & ASSESSMENTS WEEK ~ WHAT TO DO?
STUDENTS ~
-
-
- Read and follow your agendas: look at feedback, retake quizzes, improve work, etc.
- Attend classes and tutor times (Tuesday - Friday)
- Generally, your goal is to fix everything about units 1 and 2 and then use any extra time to get ahead on later units.
-
PARENTS ~
- Do a full "Check Up" with each of your students, following the guidance in the handbook. Go through the following:
-
-
- Grades: Go through each class grade book. All of the work for UNITS 1 & 2 should be complete. Teachers are grading Unit 2, this week.
- Attendance: Look at the scores and feedback on attendance.
- Messaging: Check on the volume of messaging that your student is engaging in. Is it too much? Is it a distraction?
-
- Reach out with questions or concerns to instructors or the headmaster.
If we can catch any potential issues now and fix them, we set ourselves up to have the most success this year.
God bless your efforts!
POST SCRIPT:
"If one wishes to define more clearly the ethical meaning of work, it is this truth that one must particularly keep in mind. Work is a good thing for man—a good thing for his humanity—because through work man not only transforms nature, adapting it to his own needs, but he also achieves fulfillment as a human being and indeed in a sense becomes "more a human being."
