Here are a few notes for the week:
Composition 4 and Composition 5 have a draft due this unit. Don't be late!
Ember Days: This week the liturgical calendar includes the Fall Ember Days on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. Here is nice explanation of Ember Days; consider adding these to your home liturgical practice.
Review Quizzes: Many classes include the first "Review Quiz" of the year in this unit. These have different rules and value from regular weekly quizzes -- typically you can only take them once and some have a deadline.
Have a great week everyone!
Great Words:
"I respond, an action is virtuous due to its being directed by reason to a noble good. And this is true of fasting. For we fast for three purposes: (1) to restrain the desires of the flesh; (2) to raise the mind to contemplate sublime things; (3) to make satisfaction for our sins. These are good and noble things, and so fasting is virtuous." St. Thomas Aquinas, Summa Theologiae II-II 147
